Oma left us on February 15th, 2007 on Adriaan's Birthday. She spent Valentines day with Roelof at her house. Roelof said she had a wonderful day and had a good lunch with him. Since she had a procedure done earlier in the week for pain, she was feeling better than she had in a long time. She was interested in looking at something in her book of rememberance where she kept family history records. When she went to get it from a lower shelf, she lost her balance and fell on her hip. Roelof had gone downstairs to get something for her and heard the fall. This fall broke her hip and when she went to the hospital, the Doctors said she needed hip surgery. She mentioned to Kris Vel (Peter Bart's wife) she didn't think she would be waking up from the surgery. The surgery went well, but early in the morning she had some complications which could have been either heart or stroke related. She passed away quickly and peacefully and went to be with her husband and children on the other side. We will all miss her and hope to see her again. She was deeply loved by her family. We have been looking at all the photos of her and I keep thinking about her every day. It is hard to loose someone so dear and realize they are no longer a part of our existance as we know it.
