Maya has been with our family for about 10 years. She is an English Springer Spaniel. She is sweet, mostly obedient, and a good protector. The only problem, is that she is a 70's type dog. She "Loves the one she's with". When she's protecting someone, she can get snarly and has even bitten her own family members. The Victim's are: Megan (When Liliaan was sleeping and I happened to walk by) Liliaan, (while making her lay down after taking Kaya's toy and trying to bite Darin's foot). Darin's father's Uncle in California. Roelof,( trying to get her away from Elena's bedroom door). Oma, (walking around trying to find her way around when Maya was sitting next to Megan). Opa (tried to bite Opa on the foot when sitting next to Megan. Phoebe, ( when she cornered Maya ) mostly scratches cause she had lost some teeth. Oh and she also bit poor little Henri (Josh and Bree's dog).We have considered putting her down many times but have not done it. We sold her to an English lady once that had just lost her Springer, but her cat got in her cage with her and she bit the cat, so they returned her. (She is now paranoid about being left at someone else's house). We don't feel like we can give her to just anyone. Well let me know what you all think we should do with her.
If you know of someone that lives alone, or has a ranch or farm she can run around in, this might be the only solution. We have worked with her extensively with the Dog Whisperer techniques and she has improved immensly but still has those tendencies.
